Stroopwafels Recipe

Ingredients for 10 waffles:
Equipment:
Waffle maker

For the waffles:
500 gram flour
250 gram melted butter
150 gram white caster sugar
50 ml lukewarm milk
1 egg

For the filling:
500 gram syrup
300 gram brown caster sugar
75 gram butter
1 tea spoon cinnamon powder

Directions:
Mix all the ingredients for the waffles. It should be quite a solid mass so you’ll need to knead the dough.
Let the dough to rise for 24 minutes, preferably in a warm place (ca. 20 degrees Celsius)
Knead the dough one more time and divide it into small balls with a diameter of 1,5 centimeter.
Warm the stroop in a pan and mix it with the other ingredients for the filling.

Put the small balls in the waffle maker.

When the waffle is brown and still hot, take it out of the waffle iron and slice it in two parts with a knife.

Smear the filling on one side of the waffle and press the other half of the waffle onto it.

Tip: try to do this with two people, because you can’t cut the waffle open once it has turned cold
