INGREDIENTS:
1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup water
1 package refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries are soft and the sauce has thickened slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Open the package of refrigerated biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit slightly with your hands.
Place a spoonful of the strawberry mixture in the center of each biscuit.
Fold the edges of the biscuit dough over the strawberry filling, pinching to seal and forming dumplings.
Place the filled dumplings in a greased baking dish, seam side down.
Drizzle the melted butter over the tops of the dumplings.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
